Congratulations to the 1999 Huntsville High School Senior Girls Basketball Team, who were inducted into the Huntsville Sports Hall of Fame this past Saturday evening.
This remarkable team holds a very special place in the history of Huntsville basketball. Every player on the team was a former Huntsville Hurricane Basketball Club athlete—a direct reflection of the Club’s original purpose of developing young basketball players for Huntsville High School.
This incredible group of players and coaches compiled an amazing 40–5 record, winning the Muskoka-Parry Sound Championship, Georgian Bay Championship and Ontario Championship. Their success earned them an invitation to the Reebok National Tournament, where they went on to win a silver medal.
An incredible accomplishment for a community with a population of just 16,000 at the time.
Congratulations to an amazing group of young women, their coaches and everyone who helped build the foundation for their success. A team that truly put Huntsville basketball on the map!
